Bodies! We all have them, and we are constantly bombarded with the correct ways to move them, cover them, feed them and even love them. But what happens when they break down, when they don't fit with society's arbitrary standards? In Body of Work, Melanie McKerchar explores having a chronically ill, disabled, plus sized body in a world that's not designed for such things. This show will make you laugh, make you think, maybe make you cry. From hating capitalism to loving boobs, from patriarchy to hysterectomy, from mental health to ableism, this show brings the experiences of those known as the Missing Millions -- the suffers of CFS/ME -- onto the stage and into the light.

Melanie McKerchar is an international poetry slam winner, has represented Ōtautahi in the National Poetry Slam, and has performed at the Word and Going West writers festivals. Her work has been published various Aotearoa poetry anthologies and literary journals, including Manifesto Aotearoa, Takahē, Catalyst and Aotearotica. Her debut collection is Nova: With Toes Dangling in Super.

Body of Work debuted at Little Andromeda in Ōtautahi in 2023 and was part of the 2023 Disabled Artists Festival of Theatre in Pōneke.
