A PhD graduate takes a DNA test, a divorcee looks at the sky, a grieving student goes to the doctor and a ghost creates the first atomic bomb. When life deals you a different set of cards than the ones you expected, how do you find peace in the uncertainty?

Localised Friday proudly presents their debut show Butterfly Flutters / January Burns, which braids theatrical storytelling and scientific theory. Using elements of physical theatre, character-driven narrative and projections, the show introduces the principle of Chaos Theory to a theatrical form, unpicking the humanity that underpins science.

Localised Friday is a theatrical ensemble based in Ōtepoti Dunedin. It was founded in 2023 by Kaiser Coles, Ella Kalmakoff, Tabitha Littlejohn and Ray Spence following the University of Otago course Theatre from Science. The group intertwine science and theatre with the hope that both the general public and scientists can gain a new perspective on the world around them.

Whether you have a background in science and mathematics or not, you are certain to find something that captures your sense of imagination and wonder for the universe in this show.
