Contemporary riff on Chekhov’s Three Sisters: fast-moving, high-spirited meditation on grief, longing and (miraculously) hope

Montana, USA

Presented by: Nervous Theatre (Montana, USA) with C ARTS

Irina, Masha and Olya are bored, homesick and wildly overeducated. Mom and Dad are dead. Only one thought keeps them going in this remote, military town: 'Get the F*@K out of here and back to Moscow!’

This lively production was captured on stage at The Ellen Theatre in Bozeman, Montana, with parts of the action spilling out into other corners of the historic theatre. A single roaming camera acts as a relentless observer, scrutinising the actors and catching glimpses of intimate moments and secret exchanges, all filmed as one continuous shot.

Nervous Theatre is a repertory company that grew out of the Boston Conservatory, where its founding members met. They are a rootless theatrical collective dedicated to producing and touring new works and radically reimagined classics.
