The comedy equivalent of PAK'nSAVE: affordable, well-portioned and - ultimately - a bit of an adventure

Winners - Best in Comedy Award, Dunedin Fringe 2023
Nominees - Best in Fringe, Dunedin Fringe 2023
Nominees – Most Outstanding Performer, Dunedin Fringe 2023
Nominees – Best in Dance, Dunedin Fringe 2023 (not a joke, somehow)

Melbourne comedians Sweeney Preston and Ethan Cavanagh are back in South Island with all the new material they could fit in a 7kg carry-on bag.

After impressively cleaning up at last year’s Dunedin Fringe Awards (then less impressively cleaning up their bedrooms back in Australia), Sweeney and Ethan set about polishing something else entirely - their new jokes.

Play judge and jury as two of Australia’s most promising rising stars make the case for their latest punchlines in what promises to be an exciting, off-the-cuff and raucous hour of stand-up.

One thing’s for sure though - you’re in safe hands.

Warm up your laughing muscles, whānau, ‘cos you’ll need them when New Suits, New Jokes comes to town.

“Wildly entertaining and original - I don’t know why they go to Dunedin but we should feel blessed that they do!” - Guy Williams

About the artists:

Between them, Sweeney and Ethan have performed internationally in Germany, the UK, Ireland, Indonesia and South Africa, and in all corners of Australia, from Perth to Sydney and Darwin to Hobart.

In addition to being the youngest comics given a monthly residency at Melbourne's famous Comedy Republic, they are also the proud recipients of a Weekly Award at the 2023 Adelaide Fringe, Australia’s largest arts festival.
