Katrina Iosia is a Niuean, award-winning multidisciplinary artist and designer based in Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland. Renowned for her innovative fusion of a materiality-based practice with digital mediums into physical spaces, her work transforms sculptural forms using augmented reality (AR) and artificial intelligence (AI) into interactive experiences.

Katrina has been widely acknowledged both internationally and nationally with notable achievements including her contributions to the Snap Spectacles Creator Program, developing an experience in the AR-powered glasses. She has been an official member of the Snap Lens Network programme since 2020. Other highlights include her work as director and co-founder of Katal and The AR Portal Prism, created in celebration of the Auckland Pride Festival. This project won Best AR for Social Media at the Queensland Mixed Reality Festival. Additionally, her AR sculptural series has been featured globally in exhibitions, including her AI work featured in the Playhouse NFT showcase with MakersPlace.

"Her work celebrates the intersection of art, technology, and culture, inviting audiences to immerse themselves in vibrant, playful sculptural objects and organic forms brought to life through augmented reality."

This sentiment resonates deeply in her latest installation, SugAR Vines, which invites you to experience these playful sculptural objects and organic forms through your personal device. Displayed at the Fringe x Pride Hub, the project encourages audiences to shape their own stories, creating a dialogue between the artwork, the audience, and the surrounding environment.

Join us for a unique experience where art, technology, and storytelling converge in a shared, immersive space.
