Musical Cabaret Comedy Theatre

A one and a half woman comedy musical on mental illness, grief and laughing at yourself

See tickets below

From: Ōtepoti | Dunedin

THERAPY is a one and a half woman musical with script by Chelsea McRae and music by Mario Sadra-de Jong. The show follows a Kiwi woman's journey at a therapist's office. Instead of gaining a quick fix for dizzy spells, she spends a few sessions laughing about intrusive thoughts, discussing the weird side of grief and finally addressing something from her past she's ignored for too long.

The show is mostly based on real events, and was developed with support from the University of Otago School of Performing Arts. THERAPY features live, original music.

If you're not convinced yet, here's what the preview audience had to say:

“The sharp humour (to start) and quiet sincerity (to finish) with which you told this story made it a balm to those woes, both for you and for us.”

“Amazingly raw and personal, without being self-indulgent or off-put-y.”

"It is incredibly funny. Both for people who have been on a mental health journey and those who have not."
