Emily Davidson: Homebody

homebody15

Emily Davidson is a recent Dunedin School of Art graduate whose practice has a particular focus on women’s issues. Using an array of mediums including embroidery, textiles, sculpture, drawing, and photographic collage, Davidson aims to critique common and pervasive stereotypes about women and their perceived roles in society. Davidson’s Honours year involved analysing women’s roles within film and television and culminated in a multi-media installation at the School of Art’s annual SITE exhibition. Referencing both historical and contemporary issues, Davidson continues to explore the expectations placed on women.
