Artists show their colourful creations in this imaginative circus-themed exhibition and immersive installation room

Presented by: Otago Art Society

From: Ōtepoti | Dunedin

Fun-filled flamboyance, frivolity and flair awaits you in the Otago Art Society’s creative contribution to this year’s Fringe Festival!

Follow the bunting up the stairs inside the Dunedin Railway Station to our galleries on the first floor where the feature exhibition, Circus of Colour (sponsored by Resene), will enthrall all ages. Local artists have responded to the circus theme in the medium of their choice, so there's a wonderful range of visual artistry to appreciate. All works in the exhibition are for sale and are on display from 10am to 4pm daily until Saturday 30 March 2024.

Renowned for their themed installations during previous Fringe Festivals, the Otago Art Society this year decided on a circus theme to bring a smile and a welcome escape from reality for visitors. Accompanying the main exhibition, step into the ring of happiness in the immersive installation ‘Big Top’ gallery, where artistic magic happens. Run away and join the circus, with its imaginative depictions of characters and performing animals.

Children can join in the fun by entering the Kids Circus Drawing Contest, open to those aged 12 years and under. Pick up an entry form from Otago Art Society upstairs at the Dunedin Railway Station, or download from our website otagoartsociety.co.nz or our Facebook page. Draw your own colourful circus character on the stand and bring in to the Otago Art Society. Your work will go on display and prizes will be awarded!
